You are standing by a system of five nameless small water reservoirs – ponds, which are fed by Brejlský potok. The ponds in the floodplain of the brook hold surface water, slow down its runoff during heavy rains and are an important aesthetic landscape element. The highest reservoir is a bypass reservoir, which means that a bypass channel is built next to the reservoir. This reservoir has a maximum depth of 1,8 m and an estimated volume of 3 360 m3 of water over an area of 0,56 ha. The other three downstream reservoirs are flow-through, water is being fed into them via the bypass channel of the highest pond. The depths of these reservoirs range from 1.0 to 1.3 m with a volume of 170 to 770 m3. The surface area of each pond ranges from 0,05 to 0,18 ha. The lowest pond downstream is the largest of the whole system with an area of 0.59 ha. The pond is flow-through - all the runoff from the ponds above flows into this one. The depth of the reservoir is 2.5 m, and its volume is 4 920 m3 of water. Below the lowest pond you can find traces of a defunct reservoir, which, once restored, could complement the existing system. Depending on the technical solution chosen, its surface area could range from 0.81 to 1.30 hectares, with a depth of up to 6 metres. At present, fish are farmed extensively in the reservoirs, mainly for the purposes of sport fishing. Unfortunately, the gates and other functional structures of the ponds are in an unsatisfactory to disrepair condition. We are therefore considering the future reconstruction of these ponds and their use as a water source for supplementary irrigation.
